NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION. - A meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union was held last evening. There were present, Messis. G. F. C. Campbell (in the chair), W Coffsy, G. C. Fache, N. Galbraith, G. Goldie, Isaacs, D. D. Weir, Laurenson, and E. Wylie (Secretary). The challenge of the Wairarapa Union against Wellington for the Raniurly Shield was approved, and the date suggested, Wednesday, 16th inst., was agreed to. A letter iias lead from the New South Wales Union askin" that Mr. Evans, of Christchurch, be -appointed to referee in the Australian team's match against Wellington. It was decided to approach the Wellington Rugby Union in reference to the matter? The Buller Union asked for <i match against Wellington on 30th September for the Ranfurly Shield. The challenge was accented, 'subject to the Wellington Union still holding the Shield on that date. The application of the Hawkes Bay Union for a challenge match for the Shield on 23rd August was approved on tho same conditions. The finding of the Committee 'in the appeal of an Oriental senior player who was ordered off in the Old Boys-Oriental match was that in view of the decision ol the referee on points of fact the appeal must bo disallowed. The tender of Messis. Linley and Donovan was accepted for the printing of official souvenir programmes for the tour of the Australian team. HAWKES BAY v. POVERTY BAY. [BY TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] GISBORNE, This Day. The Hawkes Bay football team, which is journeying to Auckland, played the Poverty Bay representatives. Notwithstanding the early hour, there was a large attendance. The match was intereeting, and .resulted in a win for Poverty Bay by 8 points (two tries and a goal) to 3.
