Buchan, who died at his residence, Levy-street, yesterday morning, the colony loses one who had been identified with the construction of many of our larger bridge and viaduct works during a period of many years lie wuh overseer for tho Government at Mukuhine, Mangaweka, and Staircase Gully, and has ulso carried out important private work. The Catholic Church at Petone was crowded yesterday on tho occasion of the wedding of two well-known local rrsidentM —Miss Mary Silva and Mr. Alfred William Stanley Brice, of representative cricket celebrity. The ceremony was conducted byHhe Rev. Father Maples, assisted by the Hey. Fathers Ainsworth and Maloney, and tho altar looked beautiful with its Koßter decorations. The bride, who was Riven awny by her father, Mr. Joseph Silva, was attended by Miss Kate Silvo, and Misses Eva and Lena Brice. Mr. C. Hickey was groomsman. Mr. O. D. Avison (choirmaster) played a weeing march before the ceremony, and Father Aiusworth played a march as tho newly-wed-ded couple left tho church, when the boll also rang out a merry peal. As a recognition of their services to the choir as organist and member, Mr. and Mrß. Brie© wore presented by their, fellow members with some handsome silverware.
