OLD WELLINGTON NAVALS' ASSOCIATION.

Tho aniiiinl mooting of the Old Wellington Nav.ilV Association was held in tbe Nnvals' Boat house last ovening, Mr. Robert Davenport presiding. The bal-ance-sheet showed receipts JLJ77 17s 3d, oxpendituru U52 O.i Od, credit balance £2b 0s 7d ; there are no liabilities. Tho annual report .ntatccl thnt tho nimiLer of members had, increased from 65 last year to 164 (including officers). Month ly moetings had boon arranged, al which members had been ablo to discuss subjects of inti<ros,t to tho Association. TinCommittee regretted that efforts to form n riflo club lind boon futile, but suggested to the incoming Committae (hat it should ondoavour to arrange with Ihe Shooting Committoo of the Wellington Naval Artillery Volnntoers for members of_ tho Association to bo allowed a certain amount of s.iootiiic when tho company is holding shooting practices, or in any other way tho Committco may sußgest. Tho roport expresses tho thanks of the Association to Captain Bell and the officers and men of the Wellington Navals for tho use of tho Navals' Boathouso for meetings, and for Ihe use ol tho cutters. Oaptain 801 l referred to llio healthy ring of the report, and complimented members on their interest in tho Aasociation's wolfaro. Ho rogrottcd thnt tho present regulations did not moot the case of an Association such as tho Old Navals. If mombcrs of tho Association camo as a rosorvo, this might cause a rift, as five years' efficient service would be required, and if on examination they did not pass muster, they would bo struck oft tho list. If tho Old Nav.ils wished to do a resorvo it would mean golting tho best instructors from tho Now Zealand Royal Artillery. He saw a difficulty in that moinbers who wore not on tho roservo could not obtain instruction from tho N.Z.R.A. They had, ho thought, better "stand oy" until the new Dofenco Bill was beforo Parliiv inent. and ho would suggest Hint tlm Association got Lioulonmil-Colonel Dun can and Captain-Commanding Johnston ! to ( bring forward amondments to suit their caso when tho Bill was being cor sidercd. Tho election of officers for tho ensuing year resulted as follows: — Patron, Cap tain-Commanding C. J. Johnston, M.L.C. ; President, Lieutenant-Colonel John Dun can ; Vice-Presidonts, Lieutenant-Com-manding A. R. Hislop, V.D., Major li. Davy, N.Z.M., Lioutonant J. D. Crnickshank, Surgeon O.
