o CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING OrENS TO-MORROW. The fourth annual meeting of the New Zotiluncl Defence Forces Rifle Association opens to-morrow on tho Tronthaih ranges. A large mnnber of riflemen has arrived from till parts of tho colony, and the attendance) of competitors is expected to be the largest on record, Judging by the form shown by marksmon nt tho district championship meetings held recently at Wanganui, Christchuroli, and Groytown, keen l competition for the championship honours should result. Tho decision of tho Government to sond a team to Bisloy this year has brought out many aspirants for placos in tho tenm, and this will prove an extra inducement to riflemen to shoot thoir best. Colonel Collins, who will havo charge of the camp, goes out to Trentham this afternoon. There was a record attendance at tho Wnirnrnpa Meeting at Greytown yestertiny, 90 marksnipn from all parts of the colony being prosont. The aggregate* was won by Sergeant Snndford; of Christchurch, who shot so woll nt tho opening of the Trentham Championship Mooting last year, and who was in tho Bisloy team. W. 11. Ballinger, of Wellington, tied with Sandford for tho second place in tho first match at tho Greytown Meeting.
