ACCIDENT TO A BARQUENTINE.
[BT, TILEORAI'U— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] NELSON, 28th Fobruary. The master of tho steamer Charles Edward reports that on passing Farewell Spit ho saw a. now barqucntino ashore. Ho believed it to be Hatrick and Co.'s new vessel, the Aleoca. The steamers Ilimitniigi and Defender wero alongside. The vessel was off tho end of tho Spit, and about three-quarters of a mile inside of deep water. The sea was smooth nt tho timo, and it wanted four or five hours of high water. The Alexa is a steel vessel of about 300 or 400 tons, in charge of Cnplnin White, lute of Hatrick and Co.'s barqucntine St. Kilda. She wn« recently purchasod in the Old Country, taking her departure from there for Wanganui. On the journey out she met with nn nccident to her rudder, and had to put into Adelaide for repairs. The Marine Department wns advised this yiorning that the veosel was towed off 'pie Spit by tho IlimitongL
