SEQUEL TO A STRIKE. . ♦ CHARGE AGAINST A MINEOWNER. INTRODUCING ARMED MEN INTO A STATE. [press association.] (Received December 2, 8.51 a.m.) NEW YORK, lst December. Mr. Joseph Leiter, owner of the Zeigler mines (Illinois) has been indicted for bringing armed men into the State, thus violating the statute. If proved guilty the defendant is liable to imprisonment from one to five years. A cablegram published yesterday stated that a strike had occurred at the Zeigler mines. The strikers fired into the town all night from ambushed positions. The fire at as answered by Gatling guns placed on top of Mr. Leiter's office and the coaltip. The militia arrived to quell the disturbance.
