FIRE BRIGADES.
[by telegraph— fbess association.] DUNEDIN, 25th November. The carnival in aid of the Fire BriI gades demonstration, to be held* next year, was concluded to-night. About £1200 will be cleared. The Premier was present. In the course of some remarks, ho said Fire Brigades should be placed upon a sound financial basis. He would like to see a fund out of which firemen who were injured at fires should be compensated. In th 9 case of a member of a brigade being killed on duty at a fire his wife and family ought to be cared for, and be a charge upon the people.
