The Bank of England rate is 3 per cent., as against 3i per cent, on 21st April, and 4 per cent, on 14th April. COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE. Wheat. — The European markets are slighrtly steadier, owing to stronger American advices. Cargoes are quiet and unchanged. Flour is dull— buy«rs are waiting owing to prospective heavy arrivals. Glasgow quotations 26s 9d to 27s 3d. Freights are active ; several ships have been chartered for Victoria, New South Wales, and South Australia for Europe at 24s and 255. Sugar. — German beet, 88 deg., 2d lower, at 14s 4d per cwt ; first marks granulated, 3d lower, at 15s 6d per cwt. Bradford Tops.— The market is excited owing to the rise, but business is limited; 40' s, lid higher at Js|d ; 46' s, Id higher, at 16£ d; common 60" s, id higher, at 24d; and super 60's, id higher, at 24|d per lb. • Wool. — The London sales keep firm, and prices are fully maintained. Butter. — The cold weather is increasing the country demand, and hardening the market. Victorian and New Zealand, 102s to 104s, occasional lots, 106s; New South Wales, WOs to 102s. occasional lots, 104s. Danish is unchanged. i Cheese.— New Zealand, 47s to 48s ; Canadian, 49s to 50s per owt. Rabbits are firm, with an upward tendency. THE METAL MARKETS. Coppor.— Spot, 50s higher, at £66 12s 6d ; three months', 10s higher, at £67 per ton. Tin.— Spot, 10s higher, at £133 12s 6d ; three months'; 20s higher, at £133 10s per ton. Pig-iron. — Middlesborough No. 1 cash, 7d higher, at 46s 9d per ton. Lead, Is 3d higher, at £12 18s 9d per ton. Spelter, £25 6s 3d per ton. WOOL AND SKIN SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, reports as follows: — At our fortnightly sale we submitted a catalogue of about 2000 skins and 150 hides. Prices were firm at last sale's level. 'Wj quote: Merino 7d to 73d, halfbred 7id to 7Jd, fine crossbred 7id to 7id, medium and coarse crossbred 6id to 7jd, dead and shorl-woolled 5d to 6id, groon skins. 5s 6d to 7s 4d, lambskins Is 3d to Is 9d, pelts to Is sd. Hides, heavy ox 22s to 25s 6d, light 15s to 20s; cow, heavy 16s. 6d, light 10s 6d to 15s, calves 2s to 2s Bd. Tallow in casks 20s to 20s 6d, tins 14s to 16s 3d per owt. All bag wool will be offered at our sales on 9th December. Messrs. Levin and Co., Limited, report: —We offered 3500 skins, 150 hides, and a quantity of bag wool and tallow. Skins met with strong comeptition, and showed

an advance of id on coarse crossbreds, and dead and inferior advanced id. Wo quote: Merinos 7d to 7|d, halfbreds 7d to 7|d, fine crossbreds 7d to 7^d, coarse orossbreds 7d to 7id, short-wools 5d to 6id, dead 4£d to 6d, butchers' green up to 7s 9d each ; tallow, in casks 19s, tins 17s, rough fat 12s to 14s ; hides, prices remain steady. We quote : Cows, light 10s 6d, medium 15s to 14s, heavy 14s to 16s ; ox, light 15s, medium 18s to 225, heavy 23s to 265. Messrs. Murray, Roberts, and Co. report on yesterday's sale: — Wo offered 2000 sheepskins and 100 hides. In sympathy with the advance in wool, all crossbred skins were dearer by a farthing to a halfpenny per lb. Hides were not forward in good lots, and woro slow of sale at slightly lower prices, especially for any poor quality hides. Prices were: — Skins: Merinos and halfbreds 6Ad to 7Jd, fine crossbreds 7d to 7^d, medium and coarse 6|d to 7id, faulty and inferior crossbred s|d to 7d, green and damp up to 7d each. Hides: Medium to heavy ox 20s to 25s eaoh, light ox 16s to 18s eaoh, medium to heavy cow 14s to 17s, light cow 10s to 13s. Next sale 9th December. WOOL SALES.
