The Port Nicholson -Yacht Club opened the season on Saturday last with the Club Handicap, a series of 'four races for firstclass yachts. The races were started under the 'Mark Foy system. The following entered:— Mr. A. N. Turnbull's lorangi, scratch ; Messrs. Georgjson's and M'Lean's Waitangi,' smin 30sec. The wind was strong from N.N.W. Both boats were under double-reefed mainsails and jibs. ' Waitangi rounded Pinnacle Rock buoy first, and hoisted a reefed staysail/ but on the beat was caught and passed by lorangi. Regaining the lead, however, in the smooth water off Petone, the Waitangi rounded Koro Koro buoy 2% minutes ahead of lorangi, and was. not again overhauled. The finish resulted thus: — Waitangi, shr 20min 30sec {first), 2 points ; lorangi, shr 21min '48|ec/, '£ point. The Waitangi thus won. 11 by Iran l'ssec. ' Messrs. R. C. Retw-er and W, B, Missen acted as handicapper, starter, judge, and timekeeper respectively. The yacht scoring the most points will ireceive the trophy, presented by Cbmmbdote' E. C. Mills.
