£ GREAT BATTLE PENDING. SIGNIFICANT JAPANESE MOVEMENT. LONDON, Ist November. Japanese advices state that the greatest battle of the war is pending. The Rusian and Japanese trenches along the whole line of the Shaho are only 500 metres (about 550 yards) apart, ttnd in stune places only about fifty yards separates the- ojiposing forces. General Rui'opatkhi, Commander of the Russian forces, announce a movement of Japanese from west to e?st. The Japanese, he states, have been strongly reinforced from the south and Fenghwahgoheng (south-east of Liaoyang). , The Russians also report that FieldMarshiil Oyama, the Japanese Commander, has been reinforced to the extent of a division aVid, a half from the besieging army at Port Arthur, and that the Russians are now outnumbered by one-third. Another Manchurian army is now being organised under General Gubovilsky. JAPANESE WAR ESTIMATES. LONDON, Ist November. The Japanese war estimates for 1905 amount to sixty-seven millions sterling. Sixty millions will be raised in loans, the bulk of it internally.
