NEW HEBRIDES. AGGRESSIONS OF THE FRENCH COMPANY.
[press association.] (Received October I*2, 9.23 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The Rev. Mr. M'Donald, of the New Hebrides, has reported to the Presbyterian Mission Committeß that the French aggressions begun in December last continue, with the result that neither the natives in his employ nor those acting under his sanction cultivating the plantations can even go upon the lands at Semai except at the risk of their lives. They are suffering from scarcity of food on account of the violent proceedings of the French, who planted notices along the shore warning them off the land, which was claimed as the property of the French Company. A portion of the mission property's fence had been removed, cutting off some land acknowledged as the mission's The matter had been reported to Captain Rason, the British Commissioner at the islands.
