KILLED BY A FALL OF EARTH.
MASTERTON, 25th August. James Ogdeu, a labourer, employed in road-m&king near Bideford, while working in a cutting was buried by a fall of earth. He was promptly extricated, but died while being convoyed to Mosterton. A FATAL FALL. AUCKLAND. Thfa Day. William Steele, aged 38 years, boh of Mr. J. Steele, of Mount Albert, wa« killed in that district last night by falling over a 30ft embankment whito* walking along tho railway ljne. He leaves a widow and four young children. At the Inquest held by Mr. James Ashcroft, at tho hospital yesterday afternoon, concerning the death of Arthur Furlonger, who was killed, as stated in the Post yesterday, by an explosion of gu» in a cn»k at tho Nuahaurttnga Meat Works hwt Wednesday, the jury returned a verdict of accidental death. Thoy also expressed tho opmion that no blame was attachable to any ono. Deceased leaves a, -wife at Richmond, Victoria, and is hoIkiyed to liftve a relative residing at DunKlin. Mr. W. D. Cameron, third officer of the Monowai, who was injured by faHing down a boM of th« veescl yesterday, is progressing favourably at tie Hospital, and will probably bo able to leave the institution in tho courso of a couple of •days.
