TRAIN ACCIDENT AT HEATH COTE,
[BY THLKOKAFH— I'UKSS ASSOCIATIONS CHRISTCIIUUCH, 24th August. Mrs. Beck, wife of Richard Beck, Lyttolton, received serious injuries through being run over by a train at Heathcote Valley to-day. She endeavoured to cross tho lino in front of tho train, and was run over by tho engine, two vims, and threo carriages. The right foot was almost severed, and the loft leg was fractured aboyo the anklo. The right foot was amputated immediately. Mrs. Beck now lies in a serious condition in tho casual ward at tho Lyttolton Hospital. Her husband was a passenger on tho train which ran over her, and went to her assistance, little knowing who was tho victim.
