A successor to Mr. Carew ab Dunedin has not> been appointed yet. Mr. Watkin Mills, Mons. E. Pairlovitz, of London, and Mr. W. Spencer * J<men (Mr. Mills's manager), of Toronto, Canada, are staying at the Royal Oak Hotel. Messrs. F. Coxon and G. P. Griffith, of Sydney, al*o were staying at the satno house last evening News has been received of the death in Auckland of Mm. Hargreavee, wife ot Captain Hargreaves, of that city. The doceased lady, who was a sister of Mr. Paul ' Ooffey, of Oriental Bay, arrived in Wellington from tho Old Country in 1858, and two years afterwards she removed to Auckland, where she remained until her death. Members of her family are well known in musical circles. [ The Synagogue was thronged yesterday afternoon, when Miss Leah Morris, daughter of Mrs. Morris, of Dunedin, and niec* of Mr. A. Levy, of Wellington, was married by tho Rev. H. Van Stavoren to Mr. Solomon Green, of Wellington. The bridi< was given away by her mother and bro ther, and the bridegroom by Mr. and Mr* A. Levy. The bridesmaids were Missei Beatrice' Morris and Golda and R*e tavy The honeymoon is being spent in the Wai rarapa. A large party of guests was e« tcrtained by the bride's mother at hei residence in Ohiro-road last night. Lord Plunket arid a party from Gov eminent House are to attend the produotion of "The Messiah" at the Opcrn House to-morrow evening. On Saturday afternoon his Excellency is to lay tiV foundation stone of the Victoria College buildings ; and in the evening Lady Plunket and part) will attend the opening oi' the Williamson Comedy Company's senson at the Opera House. On Monday next Lord Plunket and party will spend the evening at the Theatre Royal. On the following Wednesday, Lady Plunket if. to open the bazaar in aid oi'the funlln of the St. John Nursing Guild.
