COLLISION I N A HARBOUR.
[BY TELKORAPH— PBESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, 22nd June. The collision which tool; place in Auckland Hiubour between tho steamer Wellington and the baique Munurcwa on the night of 7th June formed the subject of ■a magisterial enquiry to-day. The Court c\pics&ed. tho opinion thai tho master of the Miuiurewa had been guilty of an error of judgment in anchoring in tin imprudent position. Tho evidence did not establish a ense of negligence or faihno of duty ou the part of the ollicers of the Wellington. Confusion of wharf and barque's lights had deceived those, officers, but this would not havo occurred had tho Manure wu been anchored further out. The ottiuMvi uf the Wellington were therefore acquitted of neglect. The Court did not think they should suspend the ceiti'icate of the Manurewa's muster, but a.s tho collision wns bi ought about by his error of judgment ho was oidered to pay the costs of the enipihy.
