ANNUAL REPORT. The, annual report of the Wellington Employers' Association states that tha Association now occupies a position far in advance of v anything previously attainedThe membership has increased from 131 Inst year to 252,- but whilst this large incre»ai> is extremely gratifying, tho executive is persuaded that there is still ample work to do both in enrolling individual employers and' in securing the affiliation of existing societies. Tho year closed with a credit balance of £4 i7s 2d. The report goes on to st^ito that very effective work hns been dono by the Now Zenland Employers' Federation in watching lugislation, and in orgauiKition. All Jilie Associations aro alliliak'J with the Federation, and one common policy and programme is being aimed at throughout tho colony. Tho Association now serves 'a similnr purpose for employers to that Nerved by the. Trades and Labour Councils for the unionists. In conclusion the report saya: "On a review of tho year's work and of tho position now gained by the Association, the executive believes that the organisation has anipl}' justified its existence*. The tendency towards combination observable in every other doparlment of human life is notable in industrial matters also. Thero are. many who feel that tho upkeep of institutions charged with tho duty of protecting, conserving, aud promoting the interests of employers, aro just as necessary and beneficial n» insurance* n gainst fire nnd accident. With the- continuous and rapid giowth of unionism, the over widening area of its claim, and its avowed determination to 'capture tho political machine,' it is imperative that eniplovers bo fully organised. The idea is a complete federation of all tho producing, manufneturing, and distributing interests throughout the colony. This will be best accomplished by every employer joining tho local i\.«sociation, sinco it is- part of tho colonial body. Tho Association rejoices in a growing membership, grrater unity, and a better understanding of the work, and if each member will oxcrt personal influeuco to enrol others it will not be long before our highest ideals of organisation (ire realised." The annual meeting was lo linva been held last night, but ns no quorum was privwul the meeting lapsed.
