REEFTON, 30th January. The Keep-it-Dark January return is- as follows :— Mill 3980z gold, 812 tons cyanide, 108oz bullion. The Mosquito dredge obtained a return of 470z for eight days' work.
During last month 127 births wero registered in Wellington, a« compared with 136 in January of last year. Thero were 68 deaths la*t month, or 17 moro than in the corresponding month of 1903. Tho marriage* registered last month numbered 84—20 moro than in January of last year. A telegram received this morning by tho Native Minister states that tho first salo of Poverty Bay properties contioilod by the East Coast Native Lund Trust Board was held at Giaborno on Saturday. Tho Paremata block" of 4269 acres (less 400 acres reserved for the Maoris, and also less tho Titirangi area, which is to bo leased) wan sold for £21,932, .vhilo the Te P ,v block of about 4000 acres realised £16,000. Tho portion of the Paremata block wh'ch has been reserved, for the natives is vabi^d *.l £3203.
