TENNIS PROPOSAL TO SEND A TEAM TO AUSTRALIA.

A committee meeting of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis As&ooiatiQii was held at the Alliance Koonw last night. Prosent : Mcme. Young (Chairnmn), Lttinhley,'Parker, Jones, Freeman, R-out, and G. Goldie (bon. secretary). Tlie Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association's Championship Meeting and Open Tournament programme wa.s upproved. The. tournament Marts on Saturday, 13th February, and there arc the usual five chnmpionships. and five handicap event*. Tho Wellington Lawn Tennis Association's, piogranune for the Easter Tournament- to be held on tho Wellington Collego grounds on tho 2nd, 4th, und sth April, was also passed; This programme has live championship and hix handicap events. Tho Wellington public schools' programme for championships under tho auspices of tho Wellington Lawn Tennis Association, to be held at the Brougham Hill court* on 9th April, was approved, and tho secretary was instructed to wiile lo all the nfliliated associations asking them to arrange nnd support, if possible, similar meetings for public school players iv their centre.'?. ' Tlie Civnterbuiy and Otago Lawn Tennis Associations both applied for tho west Now Zealaud Championship Meeting to bo allocated to their district, but it was decided that decision on tho matter bo hold over until the next meeting of tho association, as tho following recommendation from the committee will have to be considered : " That tlio N«w Zealand Association receivo half tho net profits of tho ! New Zealand Championship Meeting (when the meeting is delegated to an affiliated association) and bear a half portion of tho loss (if any), or receivo a quarter of tho net profit without becoming responsible for any portion of tho loss (if •any)." Tlio Secretary. was instructed to call a meeting of tho Council to obtain tho views upon the subject of a New Zealand team being sent to Australia, and also to ascertain to what extent the various assoI ciations would subsidise the expenses of the trip. Considerable correspondence was dealt with, including letters from tho South Australian Lawn Tennis Association assuring tho association that if Mr. Harry Parker, Iho New Zealand champion, attonded its moeting he Mould mceivo a hearty welcome to South Australia.
