FORGED TELEGRAMS.
fllT TKMCGRAPil — MK9S ASSOCIATION.! DUNEDIN, This Day. At tho Police Court this forenoon, William R. Luby was charged with sending forged telegrams. Ho pleaded guilty, and was lined £10 in eaoh ense. The informations wero laid under the Electric Lines Act. Accused became acquainted some timo ago with tw-o young men named Killemi and M'Crncken. He sent a iclcgrn.ni to Killean asking him to forward a sum of money. The telegram was signed "P. M'Cracken," and accused was successful in getting £2. It also came to the knowledge of Luby that Killean, while in Dunedin, stopped at Gobbie's Provincial Hotel, and that ho left without paying his account. Accused then sent a tolegmm to Killean asking him to forward the amount, and signing the name "W. Gebbie." Killean took no notice of the application, but subsequently received another telogram stating that unless the amount was paid forthwith proceedings would be taken. Killean thereupon sent 375.
