"A STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND." Another large and appreciative audience witnessed last night's performance of " A Stranger in a Strange Land " by the Willoughby-Oeach Company at the Opera House. The comedy will only be repeated for two more nights. "'The Urong Mr. Wright," Avhich had such & successful run when the company Avas iv Wellington before, is to be staged on Monday, and on Tuesday night tho season -will conclude with a performance ol " What Happened lo Jones." "THE ADMIRABLE CRICHTON." The box plan for the performance hf Mr. J. C. Yvillianvjon's Company of J. M. Barrio's romantic play " Tlio Admirable Crichton," commencing at the Opera House on Thursday evening next, will b« opened at the Dresden Rooms on Tuesday morning. The success achieved by the pieco in London, where it was received with unanimous approval by the critics as one of the most originul and delightful plays vet seen on the English stage, wa« Mr. Williamson's Avarrant for securing the Australasian rights. Judging from the results in Dunedin and Chrustchurcbi —the only two cities in the colonies in, which it has yet been presented — and] Avhere Mr. Cuykr Hastings and bis associates have played it to crowded houses— the season in this city should provtt' highly agreeable to theatregoers. The Terrace School held it» annual picnic at Day's Bay yesterday in perfect) weather. An unusually largo number of children left the Ferry Wharf in chargo of members of the committee, Mr. Macmorrun and his staff. Tho day was spent in races, in playing a cricket match (boya v. girls), in distributing fruit, etc. Iba most interesting cA r ont was the race for the swimming championship of tha school, there being thirty entries. The race avjui got olf in heats, tho winner of the finul being W. Smith, Guy Thompson jusb beating Pascoe for second place. Tho picnickers returned to their homes at 7 p.m., having thoroughly enjoyed theifl outing. The Garrison Band Avill give a performance at tho Basin Resen'o on Sunday afternoon. A splendid programme of musia has been prepared, and a collection will bo made. It is hoped that the contributions Avill bo generous, and assist mat«ri« ally to extinguish the debt recently incurred by tho purchase of new uniform*.
