Lord Northcote, tho new GovernorGeneral of Australia, replying to ad--drcHses of welcome from public bodies, after referring to tho warmth of the welcome ho had received in the various States, delivered a mossago from tho King to tho people of Australia. His Majesty, ho said, desired him lo say now vivid and lasting his recollection continues of their bplendid' services to the rest of the Empire in the hour of trial during the late war, and thanks for tho enthusiastic wolconio accorded to the Prince and Princess of Wale» during their visit. Lord Noithcote said the King Matched with deep interest and confident hope the development of the great national movement. Etery constitutional piocess for linking together the Empire wus enthusiastically regarded by Ilia Majesty.
