Tin 1 ordinary meeting of tho Wellington City CuuneU was held last evening. Picsent ; Tho Mayor (Mr. J. G. W. Ait-ki-ii, M.H.R.), and Councillors Nathan, Murdoch, iJcvino, M'Lurcn, Izurd, Wiltshire, Evuns, Frost, Jorgcn.sen, Keeno, (jodbcr, Winder. Luke, Smith, and Barber. If. Duvidson be grunted permission to erect a temporary building at Messrs. J. Nathan and Co.'s premises, Fcatherstonslreet, subject to the usual bond being entered into that the building will be removed within six months; that the action of the officers of the Council in putting on v 'bus service in connection with tho tramways at Newtowu bo approved ; that tho Acting-City Engineer be instructed to relay the 4iu mains from Wcbb-strcet to Taranaki-street, the higher leveLs of Hopper and Ilnnkey streets, at an estimated cost of £155 10s; that tho offer of Mr. W. Georgetti to supply a sample of Tasmaiiiiin bluogum for wood-paving purposes bo declined ; that the extra churgo of £608 mado by Mes&rs. Macartney, M'Elroy and Co. (tramways contractors) for increasing tho test strength of electrical tramway poles, be not paid, hut that tho Council agree to pay tho amount arranged by the Electrical Engineer; that the application of Mr. W. J. Ilaines to bo allowed to keep pigs at Melros© bo not granted ; that the Corporation officers be granted a holiday on Thursday, the 4th February, for tho purpose of holding their animal picnic, and that tho patronage of the Council bo granted tor the occasion j that tho Wellington Gas Company have permission to lay a 4in gae main in Moselle and Severn streets, Island Bay, subject to the mains being laid to the satisfaction of tho Acting-City Engineer; that alterations to the roadway and fences at Bullcr-street, Vogoltown, be curried out ub an osthuatcd coat of £12 10a; that tenders be invited in Wellington for tho manufacture of a watorjwagon with rotary sprinkler ; that tho Council undertake any responsibility that may exist owing to the erection of . poles for electrical tramway purposes on Waterloo-quay ; that the necessary steps bo t«ken to acquire- under tho Public Works Act the Otttri Native Reserve, known as Wilton's Bush (near Wadeslown), for uso an a domain for tho City of Wellington j that Mr C. Bet hell bo granted permission to alter drainage in connection with three sections fronting Stokes-street, provided that if any of tho flections uro sold, tho right of drainage through the said sections shall be reserved." About £1500 per year was paid in general rates by property owners along the terrace. In committee tho Council decided to offer for leaso the land for tho proposed tea kiosk at Kelburno, reserving tho light to approve tho plans of any building to bo erected thero.
