Five buildings wero totally destroyed — viz., Foster (confectioner), Collins's (commission agent), Bank of New Zealand office, Bennett's (unoccupied), Mynotb (saddler), Mrs. Turner's tea rooms. White's (bootmaker), and Ludcr's (storelccopev). REEFTON, This Day. Lockingtou's sawmill, about three miles from Recfton, caught fire yesterday afternoon. Noavs was telephoned to the Reefton Brigade, and several townspeople wont oufr, arriving just in timo to save tho mill and a private residence. Considerable damage was done to the sheds, which contained a- large quantity of valuable fimber, also to tho stables. A large stack of timber, which was piled outside, and tho workmen's huts", were completely destroyed. The insurance i» small, but tho exact amount is not available.
