TO WEAR MITTENS.
Several efforts have been made during the last two summers to revive the fashion of wearing mittens out of doors instend of glove.:, and certainly, as regaids comfort and coolness, there is much to bu raid in their fnvour, besides which tlisy 'allow white fingers, carefully manictned nails, and handsome rings lo be seen. It is obviously now the day of all our waies in the window ; so why hide thc-e desirable items when lliey may be shown with such advantage? Mittens must, of course, be worn with' an open or shortish sleecve, a kindly concession which Madame la Mode now pormita us ; the hooked or buttoned sleeves, for tho moment mercifully discarded, made the mitten an impossibility. As articles of attire mittens aro of very ancient date, and were worn by men as well ; as women.
