NORTH v. SOUTH ISLAND. The Rugby struggle between repvepentatives of the North and South Islands « being played as we go to pr«s. There is a •very large number of spectators at , the Park, amongst them being His Excellency the Governor and Sir Jo3eph Ward. This evening the teams will be entertained by the Now Zealand Union at the Hotel Cecil, and the Southern .piny era ■will leave for their homes at 9 o'clock by the Penguin. RECEPTION OP TEAMS. There was a distinctly cordial tone about the reception which was accorded this morning to the visiting teams by - the Mayor of Wellington, in the presence of the Chairman of the New Zealand Rugby Union (Mr. G. F. C. Campbell) and a number of gentlemen prominent in Rugby circles. The Mayor congratulated the New Zealand Union on imanging n North v. South Island match, and on being favoured with such splendid weather ; and congratulated the two Islands on being represented by such teams.
