Matai, Totara, anc\,Tawa SLEEPERS, for croosoting, in lots of 250 or more, delivered and stacked at any railway station or Biding between Ekotnhuna ana Takapau, and Wanganui and Woodvillo Offers to supply, stating price nnd number of each kind of sleeper and place of delivery, will bo recoived at tho Stores Manager's Oflico, up to 50th April, 1902. Sleepers to bo of the exact dimensions of 7ft by Bin by sin, at least one-half hoartw'ood, free from bark, largo knots, shakcß and othor defects. They may bo either sawn or hown, but must bo truly rectangular in shape and out of winding, sawn equnro nt onus, and the hewn sleepers must be neatly dressed. They must bo cut from large trcos (no honeycombed or burnt timber will bo acconted), to be stacked as directed, and to bo approved and passed by the Railway Inspector. Sleepprs will bo inspected in. the bush if so required by tho suppliers, but no Inspector will bo sent to pass a less numbor than 250. On receiving notice of sleepers being ready for inspeotion, tho District Engineer, Wellington, will send nn Inspector to pnss and brand thorn. Aft or tho sleepora havo been inspected nnd branded, tho supplier must deliver them at tho railway station or siding at which ho offered to supply ; nfter such delivery has been made the Inspector will givo tho supplier his certificnto, and for such as havo pti3sed inspection payment will bo mado Within fourteen days, or as near as may bo, of tho Inspector's certificate having been givon. Twonty.fivo per cent, of tho numbor undortakon to be suppliod, to bo delivered by tho end of May, 1902, fifty per oont. by tho end of July, 1902, and the whole by tho 31st October. 1902.
