MR. GEORGE MEREDITH.
Mr. George Meredith has just entered upon his 75th year. Of the tWrty "comrades in letters" who signed a letter of congratulation and admiration to him on the ocoasion of his seventieth birthday, five have since passed away—namely, the late Bishop of London, Mr. Myers, Mr. James Payn, -Mr. Henry Sedgwick, and Sir Walter Bcsant.
