MARRIED BY PHONOGRAPH.
Miss Nellie Stone, an Ottawa (O.) belle, was engaged to Mr. J. F. Duncan, of that city. But smallpox appeared in the house where the lady was staying prior to hor marriage, ana all that therein was had to be strictly quarantined. Miss Stone chafed at the demy and separation Her physician prescribed a "phonograph marriage," Avhich is asserted to be perfectly legal. Therefore, in presence of witnesses, the young lady spoke the decisive wordß, "I, N. S., do tuke this man," etc., into a phonograph. The phonograph Avas fumigated and carried off to Mr. Duncan's house, where the bridegroom and a clergyman imprinted other Avoids on the cylinder. In this manner Avore they wed, as Ottawa lawyers affirm. — Westminster Budget.
