THE OKOROIRE POISONINGCASE.

RESULT OF THE ANALYSIS. The Commissioner of Police "has received a telegram from Inspector Cullen at Auckland, stating that Mr. J. A. Pond, the Government Analyst there, Has made an analysis of the stomach, liver, etc., of the late Mrs. Court, who died from poisoning at the Okoroire Hotel, about the middle of last month, and has found no trac© either of mineral or alkaloid poison. An ana-lysis of the food stuffs, condiments, etc., in use at the hotel when Mrs. Court was there, has also failed to disclose the presence of any poison. Mr. Pond says that all the samples were sound and wholesome, and he has come to the conclusion that the illness of Mrs. Court and other lodgers was caused by ptomaines in the whipped cream which they ate, and which is now admitted not to have been quite fresh. Inspector Cullen adds that several medical men in Auckland agree with Mr. Pond's theory.
