TUE TRANSPORTS. (Received April 7, 10.35 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The steamers Norfolk and Drayton Grunge, which are to take the Tenth New Zealand Contingent to South Africa, have sailed for New Zealand. [Messis. Bannalyne and- Co., agents for the vessels are advited that the vessels sailed yesterday and that both are coming to Wellington.] CAMP NOTES. TRENTHAM, This Day. Active work was begun as soon as tho men got into camp on Saturday, raw recruits being taught their first military steps, while rifle-testing was made at the ranges. The results were only fair. It is to be regretted that there aro no horses in the lines, as the riding exercise is one of the most necessary, particularly as it is expected that the men will be only a .week in camp. Non. -coins, are much in demand, and are scarce. Sergt. Ward, of the College Rifles, is bearing the brunt of tho work. There are three members of the College Rifles in the battalion, and their commander (Captain Turner) is in charge of the camp. Captain Turner's company of rifles has sent three subalterns and 20 rank and file to the war. A fairly largo number of people from the city visited the camp yesterday. Captain Turner is being assisted by Staff- Sergeant Majors Tuck, Sanderson and Colclougb. (By Telegraph.) Tho weather is showery and chilly. There were 473 men in camp last night. Thirty-eight Aucklanders and Hawera men arrived to-day, and 20 expected from Gisborne to-night mil complete the complement. A big party did fair Snooting at the butts to-day. Major-General Babington, Lieut. -Col. Newall, and Captain Campbell visited the camp yesterday, and were pleased with the arrangements made by Captain Turner. The men are cheerful and well behaved. The officers in camp are Captain Davy, Lieuts. Duigan, Heckler, Weir, M. Smith. M'Rae, Paul, M'Killop, Lilly and Robbie. Others expected immediately are Captain Hughes, Lieuts. Chapman and Speedy, and Captain Towers, Veterinarian. Lieut. Levin is coming out today to act as Quartermaster. The instruction parades^a're being held daily.
