ENTERTAINMENTS, ETC.

The Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Association of His Majesty's Veterans has established a benevolent fund, and has already been able to give' assistance in more than ctae deserving Case. With the object of augmenting the fund the Branch has arranged to hold a concert in the Druids' Hall, Taranakistreftt, on Thursday night. A first-class programme has been prepared by Mr. O. D. Mackintosh, and an enjoyable evening may be expected. Tickets can be; obtained • from Messrs. S. Stidolph (Gear Company, Lambton-quay), M'Gregor Wright, R. and E. Tingey (Mannersstreet), May, James Smith (Cuba-street), Brodie, and Captain Walden. The anniversary tea and public meeting of the Newtown Congregational Sunday School will be held to-morrow evening. An excellent musical entertainment was carried out at the Sailors' Rest last night* before an appreciative audience. Songs were contributed by Misses Ellison and Good, Mrs. Cole, Messrs. Smith, Harri,son, and ' B.atrer ; a step-dance was given iby Mr. M. Swiney, "impersonalities" by CMr. Sortell, mandolin solos and cluV swinging display by Mr. J. W. M. Harrison, pianoforte* duets and the accompaniments by Miss Ellison, Mrs. Cole, and M»: H. Smith. Tbe performance of "A Man of Honour" arranged by local amateurs as a benefit to 'Mr. Gus Neville will take place at the Exchange Hall this evening.

Mr. J. E. Perry, of the Public Library staff, 'who is about to be married, was presented yesterday by his fellow-workers " .-.with several tokens of regard.
