AQUATICS.
In a stiff nor'-westerly breeze, the second of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club's series of. handicap races was sailed on Saturday afternoon. In the secondclass event, owing to accidents to some of the other boats, Siren proved to be the orfly starter, and consequently sailed over. The first-class event provided a slashing contest between the three cracks — Waitangi (3min, Mr. Jamieson), Rainbow (scr., Mr. Mills), lorangi (SJinin, Mr. Tumbull). lorangi rounded the Pinnacles' mark at 3hr smin, wij+h a lead of lmin from Rainbow, and 2inin from Waitangi. The last-named boat, however, got round the Korokoro buoy first — at 4hr 32min, 2min before Rainbow, and a^min before lorangi. Waitangi was timed tile outright •winner at shr lniih Stisee. " lorangi ' arrived at 6hr
4min, Rainbow 40sec later. lorangi carried full mainsail, the others were s-ingle reefed. The Commodoie (Dr. JFeil) controlled the races. 1 The annual cutter race for the Zealand'ia Cup between the Wellington and Petone Navals was sailed on Saturday, and was won by a We'lington Naval boat in oh'arge of P.O. Peterson. A Petone. boat in charge of P.O. Jenkins was second.
