The Agricultural Department, hag received the following cable message from the Agent-General, 'dated 23rd November: — "Tho average price to-day for Canterbury mutton is 3jfd. Dunedin, Southland, and Wellington Meat Export Company s, 3£d Other North Island, 3id ; River Plate, 2Jd. Tho mutton market is weak. River Plate mutton is in large supply, and is* being strongly pushed for sale. Canterbury lamb, 4£d ; other New Zealand lamb, 4d. There is scarcely any demand for lamb. Prices for lamb are nominal. New Zealand beef, hinds 31d, fores, 2fd. The market for choicest butter is firm — Australian, 112 a. For inferior butters the market is dull. There are large stooks of butter in cold store. The cheese merket is unsettled. Canadian, 455. The hemp market is firm but quiet. Good fair Wellington on spot, £34 ; to arrive £32."
