GOLF TOURNAMENT. [BY TELEGRAPH.-PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, This Day.
Afc the golf meeting yesterday, the morning was devoted to an approaching and putting competition, the competitors to hole the ball from three distances — viz , 20yds, 80yds, and 120yd.s, There were 22 competitor*. Bloomfield (Auckland), Gillies (Auckland), Hodson (Wellington), and A. Duncan (Wellington) tied with 9 for first. In the play-off Duncan won with 9. Gillies, Hodson, and Duncan tied for second place, Gillies winning in the play-off with 9, Hodson being 11 and Duncan 10. C. E. Gillies won the driving competition (266 yards).
