" ij Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, Chancellor of the Exchequer, has agreed in the House of Commons to a rebate of the export duty on low-priced coal, and patent fuel, and abandoned £650,000 of duty derivable from running coal contracts. In a speech at the Mansion House, Sir Michael disclaimed any spirit of pessimism. Great Britain, he said, was more than ever capable of meeting and conquering any emergency. Mr. Foster, the Unionist candidate, has been elected for the" Stratford-on-Avon Division of Warwickshire, in place of the late Colonel V. Milward, by a majority of 1778 votes. The pro-Boer views of the Radical candidate largely! contributed to his defeat. DECEASED WIFE'S SISTER BILL. LONDON, 27th June.
