Society, at a meeting held on Saturday affipm'ed the desiraßility of taking steps to have a college of technical agriculttire established here. Tho sooiety passed a resolution in favour of renting, the sh6W g'foimd to the Hockey Association. This was the first occasion for many) .years oa which the society has agreed to let its', grounds io athletic associations. The balance-sheet presented to the meeting showed that the amount that remained of Messrs. M'Hardy Bros.' £5000 loan was now £3157. Over £700 had been paid off this year. The surplus of assets- over liabilities was , £3765. The Secretary of the Chambei of CoWimerce has received intinlation that mails will be, conveyed to Wellington- by the gob3s' train leaving JPalmerston every night at 11.30. . Harvest thanksgiving . services were conducted at All Saints, the Congregational, and the Wesleyan Churches yesterday. The Pohangina County Council decided on Saitrrday to protest strongly against the Government method of revising the rate-roll.
