GOVERNMENT ADVICE.
The Department of Agriculture has received tho following cablegram from the Agent-General, dated 13th April: — Butter, 100s, market firm ; cheoae, 47a. Thcro is good demand for ohoese. New Zealand hemp, good fair Wellington, £24- ; fair current Manila, £33. The market is dull. Stooks Ist April — New Zealand, 362 tons, as against 206 last year; Manila, 16,030 bales, as against 6740, and heavy shipments of hemp aro expected from Manila. Gooksfoot seed, 171b standard, 335; there is a better demand for cocksfoot seed. Mutton is a failing market. Avcrago K rices Canterbury, 4 s d ; Dunedin, 3ga ; forth Island, 3|d ; Australian, 23d ; River Plato, 3id. The lamb market is good. Canterbury, 5Jd ; others, s^d ; Australian, 4^d. Beef is firmer — Hinds, 3fd; fores, 3^d
