A suspected case of plague has been discovered on the troopship Anlillinn, "which has arrived from ..upelown. The victim is a seaman. The ship was quarantined immediately the case was reported. As the health authorities have been officially informed that the case reported from Brisbane is one of true ulague, stringent measures are again being enforced. The military authorities at Capetown •have advised Sir William Lyne that in consequence of the occurrence of cases of p.agues there military mails for Australia will be sent via London. - Later. The patient on the Antillian, whoso name was Olsen, died to-ni^ht. He (eveloped suspicious symptomj on Wednesday. Until the diagnosis is completed to-morrow, the nature of his disease cannot be definitely slated. The medical v opinion is that the case was one of plague, but there is no need for alarm, as the steamer did not come near the wharf. BRISBANE, 3rd March. The plague sufferer at Pinkeuba is a youth named Kehler. Curative scrum is being used in his case with good effect. THE ANTILLIAN'S CASE TRUE PLAGUE. (Received March 4, 9.41 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The President of the Board of Health says there is not the slightest doubt that the case on the steamer was true plague. He had visited the troopship and found it. infested with rats, of which many had died on the voyage. He examined one ana found that it had undoubtedly died of plague. Olsen, the seuiruui who died, was engaged in the hold, and probably handled the dead rodents.
