It is not generally known, says the Wellington correspondent of the New Zealand Herald, that Her Majesty's navy comprises a large number of men and officers who are immediately connected with this colony. The son of Mr. A. M'Kellar, of the Customs, is on H.ivi.S. Hannibal, of the Channel Squadron, qualifying foi a lieutenant in the Nuval Reserve. The commander of the vessel is a brother of the Hon. Captain ! ? ussell. The gunnery surgeon is . fon of Dr. Temple, who was a principal figure during the Waikato war. The navigating officer is Lieutenant. Torlesse, of Canterbury.
