The contractors have not fulfilled the time conditions of their contract, and they state that they have met with unforeseen difficulties in transporting material to the claim. The whole of the machinery for the dredge is noAV on the ground, and the carpenters are engaged in* building pontoons. Tho contractors expect to have them" completed about the end of December. The Secretary of the Havelock Mining Association has paid £24 to the Mines Department, and has applied for the £ for £ subsidy fbr the purpose of developing a discovered reef in, tbe upper reaches of the .Wftkanwina.
