THE MANAWATU RAILWAY.
IMPORTANT ALTERATIONS IN THE TIME-TABLE. For soj&e time past the directors of the Mariawatu Raihfay, Company have recognised the necessfly, owing to the : ncrease in. the passenger traffic, oi improving the train service, and they have resolved upon some alterations in the time-table that are bound to be highly appreciated , by the travelling public. Under present. arrangements v it is not possible for people residing in- the Manawatu district who have business to transact in Wellington to come down to fcne . city and return home the same day. The directors hove.deeideu to abolish" the 1.20 p.m. service from Wellington to Palmer; ston, and despatch a train to Palmerstan at 4 o'clock each afternoon. The, train will only stop a few moments at the intermediate stations, so that it may reach its destination at 9.15 o'clock. Another important new departure will be an extra train leaving Wellington for Palmerston at 10 minutes past 10 each morning. Also, the early train from. Palmerston is to make a little faster time than at present, so that it may reach Thorndon at about 12.30 instead of 12.45. The alterations are to come into , force on Ist December. i •
