Mr. W. P. James, S.M., yesterday re heard the cases of alleged indecent assault against Sydney Bluett, whiqh were recently dismissed by the local Justices. Accused was committed for trial. [riVBSS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURpH, This Day. A meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was held last night to consider proposals for an amalgamation with the Auckland Association. Proposals for this; purpose brought forward by Mr. Smart, secretary of the local association, who had recently, visited Auckland, were amended in certain respects. It was decided that every racing member should be registered at a fee of sixpence. A great deal of interest is being taken in the formation of the Canterbury Highland Rifles. Over a hundred and twenty men presented themselves for enrolment, and thirty-five were picked, other selections being held over till a future meeting. A man named William Fahey, who is at present awaiting trial here on a charge of housebreaking and theft of jewellery, is also wanted in Auckland. It is alleged he broke into a house there, chloroformed a servant, and committed a criminal assault. When the Christchurch charge against him has been disposed of he will be taken to Auckland to appear before thb Court there.
