THE RACING CONFERENCE. In the course of. yesterday's proceedings, on the motion of Mr. I'ried.ander, it was resolved—" That -all Metropo.itan club? b,e asked to issue to the Racing Conference annually . (1) a properly audited balance-sheet, showing receipts and expenditure of the trainers' and jockeys' provident fund ; (2) how the funds are invested ; and (3) the names of the trustees " Sir George Clifford was re-appointed Chairman for the ensuing year. Mr. J. M'Vety moved — "That representations be made to the Colonial Secretary pointing out that what is known as tote belting — viz., persons illegally laying or accepting totalisator odds — h a growing evil, with a view to active steps being taken to suppress the practice." The motion Mas unanimously agreed to. The Levy on clubs affiliated to the Conference was fixed on* the same basis as •last year. Mr. H. E. Wanklin's salary as Secretary was increased to £150 per annum. Authority was given to the Chairman to expend £500 towards the cost of the publication of the New Zealand Stud Book, which will be issued early in September. The Conference then closed.
