ABRIDGED PROSPECTUS of THE RONGAHEUE GOLD DREDGING COMPANY, Limited. (To bo incorporated under "Tho Companies Act, 1882-") Capital £8000 In 8000 shares of £1 each. 1500 fully paid-up Shares are to be allotted to tho Vondors in payment for the claim, and the balance, 6500, aro now offered to tho public on the following terms : one shilling per share on application, one shilling per share on allotment, and tho balance in calls not exceeding Is bu per fih aro at intervals of not less than one calendar month. Tho vendor agrees that the fully paidup shares to bo allotted to him shall not bo transferable tor one year from the date of the agreement, and has stipulated for tho issue to him and one nominee of 250 contributing shares each. D. T. STUART and SON, Brokers, Wellington. Interim Secretary: Mr. A. J. C. BROWN, Qxieen's Buildings, Dunedin. This Company is protected to acquire and work mining areas, and in particular a dredging claim of one milo in length on tho Molynaux River, as shown approximately on tho plan to accompany Iho prospectus. The survey has not yet been compietod, but as the river is wide throughout the entire length, the area ia probably nofc lops than iO or 80 acres. Tho claim \a bounded by low banks, which have been worked in j>laecs by miners in the past. An extensive beach forms part of the c'aim on the east side, and affords, with tho banks on tho west side, splendid summer dredging ground — consequently work can bo carried on all tho yoar uound. The claim was prospected some years ago with a small current-wheel dredge (The Hope of Dunkeld). and gold was obtained wherever tho current was sufficient to enablo to her to work. Tho facilities for constructing the dredge speedily and a cheap price are specially worthy of note. Cochrane's sawmill, in the neighbourhood, can supply timber at a reasonable price, and the machinery can cither be carted from Lawrence or taken up from Balclutha by steamer. Tho claim is situated about 15 miles from Lawrence, by a good road, and there are level roads on tho river banks on both sides of the claim. Dividends will be at per share, irrespective of tho amount paid up. The coat of flotation and incorporation shall be borne by the Company. No application for less than 25 shares will be received. Irvinc-stroot, Lawrence, 4th September, 1899. Mr. E. R. Smith, Dear Sir — I visited your claim situated 4 on tho lower sido of tho Rankleburn punt, and was impressed with its appearance, as the river is broad, and runs at a uniform speed, similar to £hat portion of Miller's Flat where the uredges are working. In looking from the top side of tho claim, thero is a straight run to the centre of tho claim where there is a bend in the river. About five chains back towards the hill tnere aro some workings. I was told it was very good. The workings 'Show them to be done by practical men. My own remark was : "The ground must have been good, from, tho extent of the ,workings." Tho fall is into the river round this bend, or lower half of the claim. There are low beaches. Some residents told me men used to mako 2£dwts a day on them cradling. Tho claim is on one of those reaches of the- 'river whore gold would settle, being free from rapids. The river was very low when I visi ed it, giving mo a chance to sco any obstructions there might be. I did not eeo any. From present appearances the claim can all -be dredged, f rpm bank to bank. Any run of gold coming down tho river, tho hills on each side come close enough to keep it here as far as tho bond. If a run crossed the bond which is in your claim, it would be got at 1 tho other sido. It is more likely to keep to tho. river. The general opinion is it will be a good claim, and I beliove it .will bo a good investment. Kaitangata mitß can be delivered at 25s 6d. . There is good firewood within 40 chains, which could be used as a standby, if the steamer failed to deliver at any time. A sawmill is being erected a short distance from the claim, and possibly the greater part of timber required will bo got close on. WM. ADAMS. CANVASTOWN, 22nd May, 1899. I, the undersgned, have worked on the Rongahero claifn, now taken \ip by Messrs. Smith and party, on the old cur-rent-wheol dredge — "Hope of Dunkeld" — in 1890. Tho ground runs to an average depth of about 16ft, carrying gold all through, with a soft reef bottom. There is a sluicing claim on the southern side of tho river carrying rather coarse gold. Wo tried tho claim in three places, but, as we utilised current power instead of steam, we could only work where there was sufficient current — finding gold in each cut ; but as tho drodgo was a very inferior one, it was hardly sufficient to pay, as we vvoro constantly blocked by tailings, and lack of power. A dredge same as tho Molynoux Hydraulic is what I should recommend, only wi h shorter elevator on samo principle. According to prospeels should pay between 350z and 40oz per week with ease. Thoro are beautiful beaches as well as river which could bo worked in high river I couldn't actually slato tho capacity of the "Hope/ of Dunkold's" buckets, but I don't think she averaged moro than 15 loads per hour. Her saving gear was very poor. It consisted of tho old-fashioned cradle wprked by a hand lover. There is abundance of win to manuka growing on portion of claim, which could be used for firing purposes. It is equal to the be3t steaming coal. I hereby state that this is a true and sincere report as far as my knowledge goes. — Yours truly, M. J. BUTLER, Imperial Drcdgo, Oanvastown, (Late Clyde Moa, Alexandra South.)
