DELEGATES TO BE SENT HOME. [I'KESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received January 13, 9.20 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. It lias leaked out tli.at the Secretary of State for the Colonies some days ago communicated with the various Governments approving the proposal to send delegates to England to confer with the Imperial authorities, and also to explain and assist when the Federation Bill comes before the Inlperial Parliament. In his communication Mr. Chamberlain suggested that the delegation might avert any protracted opposition on technical grounds. He expressed the hope that it will be sent early^ Negotiators which were proceeding between the Governments with a view of appointing a joint delegation have been upset through Victoria appointing Mr. Alfred Deakin to represent the colony. Mr. Deakin leaves for London next week. The other colonies will now have to take separate action.
