METEOROLOGICAL. TO-DAY'S WEATHER. FROM OBSERVATIONS TAKEN AT 9 A.M.
Wind.— L, light; br, breeze; fb, fresh breeze ; in g, moderate gale ; g, whole or heavy gale ; w; gale of exceptional seventy, Weather.— B, blue sky, be the atmosphere clear or heavy; C, clouds, passing clouds ; D, drizzling rain; I', foggy; Q, gloomy, dark weather; H, hail; L, lightning} M, misty; O, overcast, the whole sky covered with thick clouds ; P, passing showers ; Q, squally ; E, rain, continued rain ; S, snow; T, thunder; IT, ugly threatening appearance. WEATHER FORECAST FOE 24 HOURS FROM 9 a.m. TO-DAY. Wind— Moderate from the westward at all places northward of Napier, Taupo, and Raglau, and from between south and east and north-east at all other places ■ BAitoNin-Kit— Further rise everywhere, but falling in the South Island after 12 hours Sea — Moderate on till western coast, and on east coast north of East Capo; decreasing elsewhere Tides — Good on all east coast ; moderate on all western coast - SYNOPSIS OP LAST 24 HOUBS. There has been a strong southerly gale on the east coast between Kaikoura and East Cape, but the weather has been fine, with moderate to strong southerly winds, in all other parts of the country, and unusually cold weuther. Frost is reported from Tophonse, and pressure has increased steadily every whore. High pressure fro in west will pans eastward of the meridian of South Cape to-morrow. There is low pressure in the Tasmau Sea to the SE of Lord Howe's Island, and moving in WSE, but decreasing in intensity; also a low pressure, decreased very much in energy during the last 48 hours, is now about 200 miles NNE of the Chatham Island, moving to SE. Low pressure from west will pass east of the meridian of South Cape on the Btii instaut, K. A. EDWIN.
