THE FEELING IN PRETORIA.
A BLOODTHIRSTY BOER. (Received July 31, 9.15 a.m.) Pkktohia, 30th July. Satisfaction is expressed here at the tone of the debates in the Imperial Parliament on the present difficulty. It is considered that the joint enquiry suggested by Mr. Chamberlain with regard to the franchise question ought to be extended to all points involved in the existing dispute. Herr Tosen, a member of the Volksraad, in the course of a speech, suggested that the Boer forces should cut through what ho termed the tedition-mongers in Johannesburg. Tho British Blue Book dealing with tho compensation demanded by the Trausvaai Government for the Jameson raid shows that £1,000,000, is claimed for moral damage, while the muteriul damage amounted to £067,000. Included in this is £28,000 for annuities, pensions, and disbursements to widows and children of slain burghers, and also to wounded burghers. The Transvaal Government alleges that 15,000 burghers took tho field against Jameson.
