A very careful search has been mndo from the Blutf to Five ringers Point, near Dusky Bay. without any .sign of the Perthshire being met with. Those immediately concerned in the wolfare of the vessel are now confident that she will Unn up or be picked up in a, few days as <t " lame duck." Meanwhile the Hincmoa. will make an examination of the coast from Hokitika 1o Big Bay. The captain of the Hawea, bound from Greymouth to the Bluff, has been instructed to keep a sharp look-out, and if necessary make a clo^e search of the shore. The captain of the Wanaka, which is to leave Newcastle for Lyttelton on Monday, has been ordered to •zigzag across the course taken by the Perthshiic, mid come "south about" through Foveaux Straits. Tho. owners and underwriters are convinced that theso precautions are quite as certain of success as if a special steamer were sent out.
