OUR DEFENCE FORGES.

(Dn the Queen's Birthday the Permanent Artillery and the Wellington Volunteers will parade at the Drill Shed at halfpast 9. The Permanent Artillery, the Wellington Navals, the Star Sub-marine Mining Corps, and the Wellington Institute Cadets, will go out by train to Ngahauranga at 10.25, and on being joined by the Petone Navals, will march out to Johnsonville. The intention is to exercise these and the other companies under arms between the city and Johnsonville, the theatre of operations being limited to hajf a mile on each *>ide of the Manawatu Railway line. At 3 o'clock the whole force will fire a royal salute on the Manawatu Railway Company's reserve, at Thorndon. The Commandant of the Forces inspected the Civil Service, Rilles and the Past and Telegraph Rifles last night. The former corps (53 strong) was under .Lieutenant King, Captain Tregear being absent through illness. The Post and Telegraph Rifles, under Captain Morris, mustered 56. '
