BOUNTY-FED SUGARS.
» -DEPUTATION TO A BRITISH MINISTER. THE CHANGING TONE OP POLICY AT HOME.
[PRESS ASSOCIATION.] London, 12th May. The Eight Hon. C. T. Ritchie, President of the Board of Trade, received a deputation of sugar refiners to-tlay, and in reply to their representations said he hoped that the Sugar liouuty Conference, which was to be held shortly at Brussels, would find some means of abolishing the sugar bounties. If, however, the sutrar hoimttes were to be continued, Great Britain would soon be converted to the policy of countervailing duties, as the bounty-fed sugars were affecting injuriously the sugar refining industries of Great Britain and her colonies.
